‘Winning in 4 years’ Rose rises to 35th in the world rankings
The world ranking of Justin Rose (USA), who won the PGA Tour for the first time in four years, has risen significantly.
In the men’s golf world rankings announced on the 7th (Korean time), Rose was ranked 35th, up 36 places from last week’s 71st스포츠토토. It was thanks to winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the PGA Tour, which ended right before the world rankings were announced. In the final round of the tournament, Rose comfortably beat Brand Wu (USA, 15 under par) by 3 strokes with a total of 18 under par 269 strokes and won the championship. It is the 11th victory in the PGA Tour and the first in about four years since winning the Farmers Insurance Open in 2019.
Rose, who debuted on the PGA Tour in 2010, accumulated 10 tour victories by 2019 and was once ranked No. 1 in the world. After four years of no additional championships, the world ranking fell to the 70th, but with this victory, it rose to 35th at once.
There was no change in the world’s top 10. Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) kept first place, followed by Scottie Scheffler (USA), John Rahm (Spain), Cameron Smith (Australia) and Patrick Cantley (USA). Zander Chopley, Colin Morikawa, Will Zalitoris, Justin Thomas (US) and Matthew Fitzpatrick (England) maintained 6th to 10th places.
Among Korean players, Kim Joo-hyung (21) ranked 14th and Lim Seong-jae (25) maintained 18th place. Lee Kyung-hoon (32) fell to 41st and Kim Si-woo (28) to 42nd.
