Ronaldo’s reason for going to Japan is to promote a product he is modelling. Ronaldo is an ambassador for a Japanese brand of body-worn exercise aids.

Ronaldo is still feeling the wrath of South Korean fans after he was withdrawn from a match during Juventus’ tour of South Korea in 2019. A group of angry fans sued to have their tickets returned.
Ronaldo faced South Korea for Portugal at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but was held to a goalless draw after a poor performance. Hwang Hee-chan’s goal in extra time gave South Korea a 2-1 victory over Portugal. Ronaldo has even been mocked for returning the favour with his poor performance against South Korea.
