At this point, I think it’s safe to call him the Baltimore Killer. We’re talking about Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios, 29.

Berrios started a road game against the Baltimore Orioles today (Aug. 15) and pitched a complete game, 7.2 innings of three-hit ball – a no-hitter that didn’t allow a single hit until the sixth inning.

The no-hitter was broken in the bottom of the seventh when he gave up a single to leadoff hitter Adley Rutchman, but he retired the side in order in the eighth to completely shut down a Baltimore batting lineup that had been hot of late.먹튀검증

Behind Berrios’ perfect game, Toronto swept Baltimore 3-1, improving to 7-16 (.304) against the American League East this season. It was also his first win against Baltimore this year (1-4).

Berrios was Toronto’s new ace, succeeding Hyun-jin Ryu. He signed a seven-year, $131 million extension with Toronto after the 2021 season, the most ever for a Toronto pitcher; the previous high was the four-year, $80 million deal Ryu Hyun-jin signed in December 2019.

But his performance after the big contract was disappointing. Last year, the year after the deal, he fell short of expectations with a 5.23 ERA in 172 innings pitched. This was followed by a 3.52 ERA in 192 innings in 2021.

This year, he got off to a rough start as well, giving up eight runs in 5.2 innings in his first start, followed by six runs in four innings in his second.

But he settled down in May with a 3.19 ERA in 36.2 innings, and is back to his ace form in June with a 1.37 ERA in 19.2 innings.

He’s been particularly dominant against Baltimore. In 13 career starts against Baltimore, Berrios is 10-0 with a 2.66 ERA. It’s almost like he’s The Untouchables when he faces Baltimore.

Even with today’s win, Toronto has a long way to go. At 38-31, they’re in fourth place in the AL East, one game behind the New York Yankees in the wild card race.
