STL drops prospect Jordan Walker, calls up former Kiwoom
The St. Louis Cardinals will give prospect Jordan Walker, 21, more time to develop.
The Cardinals announced on the 27th (Korean time) that they were sending Walker down to Triple-A Memphis.
Walker, a player selected in the first round of the 2020 draft, is the club’s best prospect, ranking fourth in the 2023 preseason league prospect rankings selected by’MLB.com’.
Last season, he played in 119 Double A games and recorded a batting average of 0.306, on-base percentage, 0.388 slugging percentage, 0.510, 19 homers and 68 RBIs, and was included in the opening roster this season and stepped on the big league stage.
In 20 games, he had a decent .274 batting average (20-for-73) with 2 homers, 11 RBIs, 3 walks and 20 strikeouts, but was sent down to Triple-A.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Walker has seen a decline in plate appearances over the past two weeks, with ground balls hitting more.
In fact, he rode on the rise in the early days, setting a 12-game hitting streak record since the opening, but experienced a slump after his record was stopped. After the end of his hitting streak, he was sluggish with a batting average of 0.192 (5 hits in 26 at-bats) in 8 games. 메이저놀이터
Taylor Motors was called up instead. After recording 4 hits in 18 at-bats in 7 games this season, he went through a waiver and became a minor league player. He signed a major league contract with the Cardinals again and joined the 26-man roster.
He has experience playing for Kiwoom Heroes in the KBO League last year in 2020. He was released after experiencing extreme sluggishness with 4 hits in 35 at-bats (0.114 batting average) in 10 games at the time.
Since then, he has been getting opportunities in Colorado (2021) Boston (2021) and Cincinnati (2022), but he has not been able to play many games. I took another chance this time.
