 Seo Chae-hyeon and Lee Do-hyeon rose to the top of the combine category in domestic sports climbing competitions.

The Korea Alpine Federation (Chairman Sohn Joong-ho) said, “From the 7th to the 9th, the ’33rd National Sports Climbing Championship’ was held at the Gangnam Sports Climbing Center in Seoul.”

This competition was held as a selection event for the 2023 sports climbing national team, and the event was held in two events (combine (lead + bouldering) and speed).

On the first day of the competition, the men’s and women’s speed preliminaries and finals were held on the 7th, the combine preliminary on the 8th, and the combine final and award ceremony on the 9th.

As a result of the competition, in the men’s combine category, Lee Do-hyun (Jeonbuk, Legend Climbing Club), Cheon Jong-won (Gyeongnam, Central Gyeongnam Climbing), and Song Yun-chan (Gyeonggi, Doraeul High School) took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, respectively. In addition, in the women’s combine category, Seo Chae-hyeon (Seoul, Seoul City Hall), Sasol (Gyeongnam, Central Gyeongnam Climbing), and ‘Rock Empress’ Kim Ja-in (Sejong, Footprint Mountaineering Club) took 1st to 3rd place, respectively. 

In the men’s and women’s general category, Lee Yong-soo (Jeju, Ohyeon Donggohoe) and Noh Hee-joo (Busan, Family Mountaineering Club) each took the top spot.  메이저놀이터

As a result of this event, the Korea Alpine Federation selected a total of 12 national team members, 3 men and 3 men and 3 men and women, in the combine and speed divisions. The athletes participating in the Hangzhou Asian Games are two men and women, two men and women in speed individual, and three men and women in speed relay.

It is the first Asian stage of Seo Chae-hyun, the ‘next queen of rock climbing’ who played an active part in the Olympics, in her life. In the men’s division, Lee Do-hyun was a silver medalist in bouldering at the Innsbruck Sports Climbing World Cup last year, and is expected to continue the genealogy of sports climbing in Korea.

The national sports climbing representatives selected through the qualifying event will participate in various international competitions, starting with the Hachiochi World Cup in Japan in April, the Seoul Sports Climbing World Cup held in Seoul on the 28th of the same month, and the Asian Games in Hangzhou.
