‘Only Choi missing’ Pittsburgh falls to Angels, 5-7…Ohtani hits 36th

Choi Ji-Man’s Pittsburgh Pirates fell to the Los Angeles Angels behind Shohei Ohtani’s home run.

The Pittsburgh Pirates fell 5-7 to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Thursday (July 24) at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, California, United States.

Without a win the previous day, Pittsburgh fell to 43-56 on the season, last place in the National League Central.

The Angels improved to 51-49 on the season and moved into third place in the American League West.

Pittsburgh left Choi out of the starting lineup for the day.

Choi, who was on a hot streak that included a solo home run off Ohtani two days earlier, was stuck in the platoon system and didn’t see the field again today.

In place of Choi, Pittsburgh started Carlos Santana at first base and Andrew McCutchen at designated hitter.

Pittsburgh took the lead in the first inning on a solo home run by Brian Reynolds, but starter Mitch Keller gave up a tying solo shot to Ohtani one out later in the inning.

It was Ohtani’s 36th home run of the season, his first in five games since his last against the New York Yankees on April 18, and it kept him in the lead.

After Ohtani’s homer set the tone, the Angels responded with three straight hits in the second inning.

They added four more runs in the fifth, including a home run by Luis Lenhippo, to put the game out of reach.

Pittsburgh got within four runs in the seventh, capitalizing on a pair of errors and a Santana RBI double, but couldn’t get any closer.온라인바카라

Pittsburgh didn’t have their best stuff in the bottom of the ninth either, falling 5-7.
