‘Kim Jung-ho’s Iron Wall’ Kim Ji-soo, “I’m not going to make a big deal out of winning against France”

Kim Ji-Soo, the stalwart behind Kim Eun-Joong, shares her aspirations for Honduras.

The South Korea U-20 national soccer team, led by head coach Kim Eun-joong, defeated France 2-1 in their first match of Group F at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Argentina 2023 at Estadio Malvinas Argentina in Mendoza, Argentina, at 3:00 a.m. ET on Sunday. The victory moved South Korea to the top of the group.

South Korea took the lead through a goal from Lee Seung-won. In the 22nd minute of the first half, Kang Sung-jin and Kim Yong-hak combined on a counterattack, with Lee finishing off a pass. South Korea did not concede a goal despite losing possession to France. In the 19th minute of the second half, Lee Young-joon headed home a free kick from Lee Seung-won토토사이트. In the 21st minute of the second half, France conceded a penalty kick (PK) due to a questionable call, but they were unable to equalize and the game ended with a 2-1 victory for South Korea.

Lee Seung-won, Kim Yong-hak, and Lee Young-joon stood out for their performances in the attack, but Kim Ji-soo also deserves a shout-out. Kim formed a center back line with Choi Seok-hyun. They conceded a PK but did not give up a field goal.

She showed why overseas clubs like Brentford are watching her. After the recovery session, Kim spoke about the game against France and what kind of mindset the team will have against Honduras.

  • How are you feeling?

It wasn’t an easy game against France. I gave a lot of myself and my body feels heavy right now. I will recover well and prepare for the next match.

  • How did you feel against France?

I felt like they had everything that a striker should have. They’re good players, but we prepared well, we were thorough, and we defended well.

  • They were making a lot of noise on the pitch.

They were saying, “Get it together,” and they were swearing. We had to get up and down the line quickly.

  • We met Honduras.

I’m not going to get carried away because we won one game against France. We’re going to prepare the same way we did the first time so we can win.
