Gwangju recruits defender Kim Gyeong-jae

Gwangju FC, which is challenging for the K-League 1 this season, recruited ‘Control Tower’ defender Kim Gyeong-jae.

On the 15th, Gwangju officially announced through a press release, “We have recruited defender Kim Kyung-jae, who played an active role in Jeonnam Dragons and Jeju United.” 

Boasting a solid physical condition of 183 cm and 73 kg, Kim Kyung-jae is a central defender with excellent interpersonal defense, tackle, and build-up. In addition to his main job, he can play as a defensive midfielder 스포츠토토and fullback, and has earned the modifier ‘control tower’ for stable game operation along with seasoned defensive reading.

Even before joining Gwangju, Kim Kyung-jae had dinner with manager Lee Jeong-hyo twice. In 2012, Kim Gyeong-jae, who had a teacher’s relationship with coach Lee Jung-hyo at his alma mater Ajou University, won the best player award at the 2015 Asian University Friendly Football Tournament, and also served as the team’s captain with his excellent leadership. 

Kim Kyung-jae, who made his professional debut wearing a Jeonnam uniform in 2016, played three seasons before enlisting in Sangmu for military service and playing an active role. Afterwards, he moved to Jeju and reunited with manager Lee Jung-hyo, and played 45 games in three seasons, contributing to the team’s promotion to the first division and advancing to the Final A for two consecutive years.

Kim Kyung-jae, who was the third team with coach Lee Jung-hyo, said, “I was able to grow greatly because coach Lee Jeong-hyo was there in both my college days and Jeju. “Being one with the team is our top priority.
