Dodgers acquire Lance Lynn-Joe Kelly from White Sox

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a massive trade to bolster their bullpen.

The Dodgers announced on Monday that they have acquired right-handed starter Lance Lynn (36) and right-handed reliever Joe Kelly (35) from the Chicago White Sox, sending outfielder Trayce Thompson (32) and minor league right-handers Nick Nastrini (23) and Jordan Leshoure (25) in exchange.

Lynn is 6-9 with a 6.47 ERA in 21 starts and 119 2/3 innings pitched this season. He has a 1.462 WHIP, 2.1 walks, 3.4 hits, and 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings.

Originally, he was a better pitcher than this. In 330 career major league games, he has a 129-93 record with a 3.71 ERA. He was a one-time All-Star in 2021.

He is in the final year of a two-year, $38 million contract that he agreed to with the White Sox in July 2021. He has a team option for the 2024 season.

In 29 innings pitched in 31 games this season, Kelly is 5-1 with a 4.97 ERA, 1.310 WHIP, 0.9 home runs, 3.7 walks and 12.7 strikeouts per nine innings. In 18 save situations, he has 11 holds and one save.

In 12 seasons in the majors, he has a 52-37 record in 439 games with seven saves and a 3.98 ERA. He won World Series titles with Boston in 2018 and the Dodgers in 2020. In 2019, he returned to the team he spent three years with.

Trayce Thompson, the younger brother of NBA Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson, is batting .155 with a .310 on-base percentage, five home runs and 14 RBIs in 36 games this season. He returns to the team that drafted him in 2009 and gave him his big league debut in 2015.

Nastrini is MLB.com’s No. 9 prospect in the Dodgers organization. The 2021 fourth-round pick is 5-3 with a 4.03 ERA in 17 starts at Double-A this season in 73 2/3 innings pitched.온라인바카라
