Chow Jin Chow, Song Am-bae lead men’s AmaGolf 1R at the national level

South Korea’s Chau-jin Chow took the first round lead in the men’s championship at the 30th Songambaek Amateur Golf Championship with a 9-under-par 63.

On the first day of competition at Daegu CC (Middle and East Course, 72) in Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongbuk-do, Korea, Chaujin carded nine birdies to take the lead, tying the Daegu CC course record set by Chung Chan-min in 2017.

He is followed by seven others at 6-under-par, including national teammate Moon Dong-hyun and national reservist Pi Seung-hyun.

The second round of the tournament, which will be played on the 23rd, is expected to be a fiery affair.

A total of 180 players, including three men and three women from the national team and eight men and nine women from the regular army, are competing in the tournament, which also serves as a national selection trial.

Song Am-bae is one of the biggest stars of Korean golf over the past three decades. The tournament has produced players such as Park Se-ri, who has 25 career wins on the LPGA Tour, Park In-bee, the world’s first golden career Grand Slam winner, Ko Jin-young, Kim Mi-hyun, Park Sung-hyun, Yoo So-yeon, and Kim Hyo-joo; Ahn Byung-hoon, No Seung-yeol, Kim Shi-woo, and Bae Sang-moon on the PGA Tour; and Kim Dae-hyun and Seo Yo-seop on the KPGA Korean Tour.스포츠토토

In order to honor the contributions of the late Mr. Songam Woo Jebong (former Chairman Emeritus of Daegu CC) to the development of Korean golf and the promotion of golf, Daegu and Gyeongbuk businessmen gathered together and received approval from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to establish the first pure golf scholarship foundation in Korea, Songam (Chairman Woo Ki-jung), and founded the tournament in 1994 in honor of Mr. Woo.
