Bae ‘Dae-hwan’ Bae scores game-winning run + sacrifice bunt to become ‘unsung hero’ as Pittsburgh wins fourth straight game
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bae Ji-hwan became the unsung hero of his team’s come-from-behind victory after coming off the bench.
Bae walked to load the bases in the bottom of the sixth inning of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 2023 Major League Baseball home game against the St. Louis Cardinals at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, on Thursday (4 April).
With the score tied 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Pittsburgh immediately brought Bae to the plate after leadoff hitter Mark Matthias reached on an error by third baseman Nolan Arenado.안전놀이터
Bae moved to second on Jason DeLay’s sacrifice bunt, and after Andrew McCutchen grounded out and Brian Reynolds walked, Bae came home on Conor Jo’s double to put runners at second and third. Reynolds scored from first to give Pittsburgh a 3-1 lead. Bae then scored the game-winning run.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, after Tucupita Marcano singled, Bae laid down a sacrifice bunt to put runners in scoring position. He was unable to get a follow-up hit to put the tying run in scoring position, but he did his job.
Pittsburgh pulled within one run in the top of the ninth on a Nolan Gorman double, but Yohan Ramirez, who replaced Colin Holderman at first base, got two outs to preserve the win.
With the win, Pittsburgh clinched the series and ran its winning streak to four games, improving to 30-27 (.527) on the season. On the fifth, Rich Hill will start against Miles Mikolas.
